Lily et Cie is not a vintage shop for casual Sunday shoppers. The 5,000-square-foot boutique is in Beverly Hills, so that should be an indicator that it is not a typical vintage shop. Window shoppers beawre: Don't expect a freindly welcome, don't ask to try anything on, and do not move the clothes over the racks by any other means than the hanger.
This is some of the most incredible vintage in the world and worth sucking it up and enduring the unfriendly atmosphere to see it. Lily et Cie is more like a musuem of fantastic fantasy vintage for us mere mortals than just a boutique, and owner Rita Watnick is it's self proclaimed "curator".
After all, Lily et Cie is a place where a-list celebrities shop for their Oscar gowns, so it's kind of a big deal. Renee Zellweger, Winona Ryder, and Penelope Cruz and have all worn dresses from Lily to the Academy Awards, and the shop has many regular celebrity customers like Mary Kate Olsen and Drew Barrymore.
