Two of Hollywood's most beloved actresses; Penelope Cruz and Julia Roberts, wore vintage at this year's Golden Globe Awards. Both have worn vintage before with great success, not only fashion wise, but also by winning Academy Awards for Best Actress on the night that they wore them. Their last vintage outings were not quite as successful.

Julia Roberts's vintage jersey Yves Saint Laurent dress was too simple and casual for an event like the Golden Globes. Event the exuberant vintage Van Cleef & Arpels necklace couldn't dress it up enough for such a major red carpet event.
Best Supporting Actress winner Penelope Cruz wore a vintage Armani Privé gown that seemed a better choice for her "Nine" co-star Sophia Loren. It was beautiful, but the lace sleeves made it instantly too old and matronly for an international sex symbol only in her thirties (note: Sophia Loren's dress was also black, Armani Privé, and had sleeves...eerie.)
Although these dresses didn't quite hit the mark, I hope to see them try again, and wow everyone with unbelievably fabulous vintage gowns.
