Shop For Vintage Even When Quarentined With H1N1!
A giant leap for vintage kind has been made; Goodwill Industries has an online auction site! Shopgoodwill.com has all of the good stuff you would spend hours digging around for in one of their stores, but with the advantage of shopping Goodwills all over the country at once!
You can find anything from shoes, to fur coats, even fun grab bags of items on Shopgoodwill. There's even a "Retro/Vintage" category for searching. Just like eBay, all items are for same by auction, so you have to compete for the really good stuff. This makes the prices go higher than they would in an actual Goodwill store. Unlike eBay, the money goes to a non profit (Note: although the profits go to the charity, they are not tax deductable).
So if you get stuck home with a cold, the flu, or the dreaded H1N1 this winter; remember you can still shop for vintage things you love without ever leaving your cozy bed!

The only problem with the online present is that it takes all the fun of “thrifting” which is usually a thrill for those collectors and sellers of vintage items. Add to that, the fact that you have to bid on items instead of simply making a purchase and it isn’t that great. The other thing about their online presence is that items that should go for maybe 10-20 dollars are usually jacked up so high it isn’t feasable to purchase it. Take vintage jewelry lots in bags…I used to buy the bags for $9.99 in the store and some small single earrings and junk parts for a dime or quarter. Try getting a bag for under $50 – it is just crazy that people get frenzied over stuff that you could get at a flea market for next to nothing.
The good think about shopgoodwill is that it is making a lot of money and I’ve seen the good they do in their stores and rehabilitation centers. It just isn’t cost effective for a dealer.
