Happy Times Are Here Again
Here is a list of the period movies I'll be waiting in line for and taking style notes from:
Appaloosa is a western starring Viggo Mortensen, Ed Harris, Jeremy Irons, and Renee Zellweger. Translation: Tight pants, tight vests, big buckles and guns for the guys; braids and prairie dresses for the ladies.
Period thriller The Changeling, starring Angelina Jolie, is set in the late 1920s-early 30s Los Angeles. Though the subject matter is dark, it's hard not not notice Jolie's perfectly cloched ensembles.
Leo and Kate together again? Believe it! Revolutionary Road, due out in December, is about a married couple (Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet) with a LOT of ups and downs. Set in 1950s Paris, there's bound to be tons of great period clothing.
Australia is the latest Baz Luhrmann/Nicole Kidman epic about their shared homeland in pre WWII Australia. Epic + period = awards and great costumes.
Take a trip back to the 70s in Gus Van Sant's biopic Milk about the assassination of the first openly gay american politician Harvey Milk. Abundant polyester three piece suits are guaranteed.

I just love the art deco influence in the clothes of the 20s and 30s. We need a photo of Angelina’s cloche!
I wonder what she’ll do with her long hair?
